Ponche Navideño

Ingredients

  • Water, approximately 1.5 gallons
  • 3.5 ounces of Hibiscus
  • 5 or 6 peeled tamarind
  • 3 apples
  • 1 sugar cane
  • ¼ of a tejocote
  • 7 Guavas
  • 1 lb of Piloncillo (Solid Brown Sugar)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 10 prunes

Directions

  1. Boil water.
  2. Clean and prepare fruits.
  3. When the water is ready, add piloncillo, cinnamon, tejocotes, tamarind and sugar cane. These are the fruit that take longer to soften.
  4. At 25 minutes, add hibiscus, prunes and allow to simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Then add guavas and apples, simmer.
  6. Check your sweetness, if you need more sweetness add more piloncillo (solid brown sugar).
